Family owned pharmacy to employ six positions in Hamilton County

Today, the Hamilton County Development Authority (HCDA) announced that Cheek & Scott Drugs, Inc. of Live Oak will open its first site in Jasper. The location, which is expected to open in Spring of 2017, will employ six staff members and will offer prescription fulfillment, medical devices as well as fast response clinic services such as flu testing and immunizations.

“Cheek & Scott has a long history of supporting the local communities that they are in and we are excited to welcome them to Hamilton County,” said Susan Ramsey, Executive Director of the HCDA. “We thank them for bringing needed services and jobs to our community.”

Cheek & Scott provides pharmaceuticals, professional counseling, natural pharmacy, medical equipment, oxygen, respiratory care, wound care, and other health care needs. Originally incorporated in 1965, the business has expanded into the home health care field providing services in a 14 county area in Northeast Florida.

The new location in Jasper will employ six staff members. The pharmacy will be managed by a head pharmacist and supported by five pharmacy technicians which will be hired locally. Training will be available for those that apply for the pharmacy technician positions. The state recognized certification is offered at River Oak Technical School locally and coursework can be completed within six months.
