Jennings, FL – Today, the Hamilton County Development Authority (HCDA) announced that construction of a new Dollar General store in Jennings is nearing completion, marking continued retail growth and investment in Hamilton County according to Executive Director Chadd Mathis. The projects began after Mathis recruited the preferred developer to Hamilton County in January 2024. This will be the second Dollar General location added in the county within two years. The first opened near State Road 6 and I-75 in Jasper in September 2024, helping meet growing retail demand in the area.

“The Development Authority continues to identify, recruit and nurture new businesses in our community. Whether a national retailer or a home-grown business, new jobs and the generation of tax revenue are critical to diversifying our local economy,” said Chadd Mathis.

The location, supported by the HCDA with site selection assistance, property owner engagement, contract coordination and initial utility connections, is expected to be completed by December 2025.

The new store will be located on Hamilton Avenue between U.S. Highway 41 and Interstate 75, within the Jennings city limits. Positioned near the town’s main intersection, it will serve as a convenient retail option for residents and visitors alike.

“Hamilton County continues to attract new retail investment that enhances quality of life and supports local commerce,” said Nathaniel Combass, Chair of the HCDA. “We remain committed to and are actively recruiting additional businesses that fit the county’s demographic profile and can meet the needs of our growing communities.”
